Crisp Mountain Air by allisonosilla Crisp Mountain Air by allisonosilla
Autumn - Lake Diablo - Washington State

I went on a LONG drive with my parents to see the fall colored leaves. Sadly the leaves fell off really early (possibly because the summer was so rainy?) But the evergreens NEVER disappoint.

Aside from the pesky lens flare and overexposed sky, this photo is absolutely beautiful! :D

Actually I did those things on purpose. It might not be your artistic vision, but it is mine. And that's totally fine. If it makes somebody feel something, good or bad, I have done my job. I don't want to make art if it won't cause a response. I like to take risks, and see what reactions I get. I hope for more good than bad, but if I get bad remarks, at least I went big and tried something new you know? Out of my comfort zone.

Anyway, I tend to like things a bit more abstract, so that's why I wanted more focus on the lens flare. I actually love that effect. I love how it reaches down. Exaggerates the size of the sun.

Oh ok. I wasn't saying it was bad at all though, I just know that many photographers (myself included) can't stand when they get a lens flare in an image. It still is very beautiful :).

;) Thank you very much. And I do understand that sometimes the lens flare can be annoying. haha. A lot of times I don't want it at all. Just this time I did. ;)

this is definitely either Ross Lake or Lake Diablo off highway 20. I can't remember which one you see from here.

haha, My dad just said it was Diablo. We now KNOW for sure. I should really learn things like this but I was really just looking at scenery and not caring about where I was at the time. Usually I care more about where I am on the map, but I just decided to take the relaxed approach. lol.

Thanks! ;)

Yeah, I usually just look at the scenery, too. I've just been over highway 20 so many times that I know what a lot of the lakes and mountains are because I've seen them so many times. Glad I could help!

Oh wow. The last time I was in the state of Washington was when I was five years old, and sights like these are among the few things I remember vividly.

Awesome! Thanks so much! I love Washington and can't imagine going years and years without coming back even if I do move far away. It's so worth a visit. East or Western Washington, both are amazing.

haha, good eye! Only I posted this with a bit of a different cropping for the purpose of the Calendar Contest. I made it a tad smaller to hopefully better fit into the calendar's margin's, as small as I was willing to take it anyway. It wouldn't be a perfect fit as a panorama no matter what, but this was what I wanted to submit.

Also I guess I felt cutting some off helped focus this a bit.

If I could, I would plant a house there and see it every day. haha. But I think whoever made the highway rest stop with a viewing area would get a big mad.
